Walking In Love: Sign Of Spiritual Maturity Sign Of Spiritual Maturity
…walk in love, as Christ also has loved us… (Ephesians 5:2).
Walking in love is one of the hallmarks of Christian maturity. You can easily identify a mature Christian by the way he communicates and respects others. He walks in love towards people and he sees God in them.
A Christian who treats everybody badly isn’t mature. He judges people by what his senses tell him. The Bible says, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace” (Romans 8:6).
Being spiritually minded means seeing beyond your senses.
Some people mistake receiving answers to prayers as spiritual maturity but it’s not true. You receive answers because God loves you and is always willing to grant you answers to your prayers. If someone receives answers to his prayers always but relates to people without love, then he isn’t mature.
The more you grow in Christ the more you walk in love. You become more submissive to Him and easily recognise Him in people. “You cease being harsh or even impatient. You begin to talk to older men as your fathers and to younger men as your brothers” (1 Timothy 5:1-2).
It pays to see people the way God sees them. As you do, you’ll be amazed at what the Holy Spirit will do in your life. He will change your whole life. He will give you great ideas.
Start dealing with people as the special ones God has brought in your life. Treat them with love and respect irrespective of their age, colour or gender. That’s how to walk in love.
