God’s Love On You

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not (1 John 3:1).

The word “bestowed” means “lavished.” Therefore, in a more accurate writing, it should read, “Behold, what manner of love the Father has lavished upon us…”

This is the sense in which God has loved us, with an everlasting love: love without limits. We’re a result of the superabundant love He lavished upon us; we’ve been accepted of Him. We’re now called sons of God. This is amazing reality.

1 John 3:2 says, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” We’re sons of God NOW.

However, in our outward appearance, we may not look so, but for sure, when He comes, we shall be like Him in appearance. But already, as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). As He is loved of God, so are we; the Father loves you as much as He loves Jesus (John 17:23).

You’re secured in the Father’s love; take advantage of His everlasting love for you. He loves you as though you were the only one on earth. Not only is His love for you without limits, it’s also unconditional.

The Bible says, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10). Clearly, He demonstrated His boundless love for us, even while we were yet in sin. Have faith in that love, for it’s been poured out abundantly for you.
