Cast Out Illegal Occupants Illegal Occupants
Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims [were] there, and [that] the cities [were] great [and] fenced: if so be the LORD [will be] with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said (Joshua 14:12).
It’s true you’re Born Again and are a child of God. It’s also true that as a child, you are an heir of God. However, that’s the legal aspect of salvation. By experience, many of God’s children are not yet enjoying their inheritance because they haven’t possessed it.
One of the reasons is that they are slack “to go in” and possess that which belongs to them: “And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long [are] ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?” (Joshua 18:3). What a life of laziness?
But Caleb determined in his heart to go in and possess the land which the Lord had given unto them, even knowing that the Anakims were there. God doesn’t give you “Free” land. You have to contend and drive out the illegal occupants. You have to insist on your inheritance.
Cast out the “Anakims” and they will hearken unto your word: “And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak” (Joshua 15:14).
Remember, every man MUST press himself into the kingdom of God (Luke 16:16), and only the violent take it by force (Matthew 11:12). This is God’s decree that Ishmael shouldn’t take possession of that which legally belongs to Isaac (Galatians 4:22-31).
