All of you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble toward everyone else. The Scriptures say, “God opposes proud people, but he helps everyone who is humble (1 Peter 5:5 CEV).
Humility is the secret to greatness. God loves and lifts up humble people; however, He resists those who are proud. David is a good example for us to follow. He was humble. This was one of the qualities God saw in him that He chose him to be king over Israel.
As the anointed king, David never spoke badly of or acted against King Saul, who was after his life.
Therefore, it’s no wonder David became Israel’s greatest king. His humility positioned him for greatness. Like David, learn to be humble; speak politely, be gracious and respectful to those around you.
