True Worship: The Father Seeketh Such
But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him (John 4:23).
The word “worship” as written in the scripture comes from a Greek word “proskuneo” which denotes “to kiss, to bow, to prostrate or to do reverence to.” You see, the Old Testament folks did many things (John 4:19-22) but God didn’t see it as true worship!
True worship is worshipping the Father in spirit and in truth. Why? Because God is a Spirit. So, kissing and bowing at the altar didn’t make any difference in the OT.
Outward show doesn’t matter because God is a Spirit. You’ve got to worship in spirit and in truth; that’s the new order! You kiss Him, bow to Him and prostrate to Him in the spirit; the Father seeks such to worship Him!
The Bible says, “…your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost…” (1 Corinthians 6:19), and that your body is your home (1 Corinthians 5:1-6). So, a true worshipper dwells with the Spirit and lives with the Spirit in the same temple.
As you worship, you carry your temple with you.
You must get to a place where you know that when you move to a certain place, you go with your home, the body, which is the temple. A place in life where you have no consciousness of material possessions because whatever you need is with you in the temple. That’s how you fellowship with the Spirit in humble submission.
You count all other things as dung for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ!
Don’t have a special place for worship; that was the old order. The new order of worship is that you get the presence of God out through you to affect your environment. Wherever you are, turn it out into the presence.
Where you live is the altar of God because you’re the altar. You sanctify wherever you go. Such thinking and consciousness is what the Father seeks.
