Lessons From The Tower of Babel
And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do (Genesis 11:6).
From our opening Scripture, there are important lessons for us to note. No wonder the Bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). When men said let us build a city and a tower, and they set on the course to do it, the LORD said, “…nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”
To imagine is to consider or to think about (Greek: zamam). That’s what happens when you catch a vision.
As a ministry, the lessons here are:
1) Members having a common identity; common values
2) Members having a common language; being able to communicate well with understanding. If you have a vision, speak it as though it already happened. That’s faith! Change your language.
3) Members having a common goal; vision or purpose. The cause for division is in having two visions (di-vision). Be specific with your desired attainment!
Child of God, what have you imagined about your life, future, family, career, business or even academics? The power to being unstoppable lies in the extent of your imagination.
Lastly, whatever your vision or imagination is, desist from desiring to make a name for yourself when your vision bears fruit (Genesis 11:4). The ultimate purpose of your vision should be to glorify God (2 Timothy 1:8-9, Romans 8:28).
Let God be in the picture!
Time to run with your vision. Water it with the Word and prayer. Therefore, “…behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they aalready white for harvesting” (John 4:35).
